Dutchman Pass
This secluded region was once inhabited by indigenous natives who dwelt in the overhanging cliffs, but have long since vanished without explanation. In the 1850s the land was claimed by the Eastwood Timber Company. Due to the remote location and inaccessibility of the gorge and the river below, the area was neglected until a trestle bridge was built in an attempt to link up with the Transcontinental Railroad in the 1860s. Unfortunately this ended in disaster when the bridge was destroyed by unknown saboteurs. Currently the area is abandoned due to outlaw activity and open hostility among the native population.
Some claim that the Eastwood Company maintained a secret mine in the area which would explain their interest in the gorge, while others, notably the Altapera family of northern Mexico, have been accused of meddling in the region...
